How to Sign Up for a New Student Advising Session

Accepted for Summer or Fall 2022?

It's time to register for classes! Are you ready?

Step 1: Use our Self-Guided Advising Tool

Our self-guided advising tool is quick and easy and available for you to access anytime. During this time, you will learn helpful tips including how to create a schedule that works for you and how to register.

You will have the opportunity at the end of your session to schedule a 30-minute check-in with an advisor to review your course schedule and answer any questions you may have, or if you need more detailed support, a 60-minute Individual Start Smart Advising Session.

Be Prepared!

Here are some tips to prepare for your Orientation session:

Know your test scores and course placement (refer to Understanding Your Scores). You can find your test scores in MySMCC, your student portal. Click on login in the upper right corner of this page, then log-in (if you are unsure how to login, watch the "Logging into MySMCC" tutorial below, or find the log-in instructions in the column on the left). Then click on the silhouette in the upper righter corner, go to “My profiles & settings”, “Academic Information”, then “Test Scores”.

Review the Degree Worksheet for your degree program (located on right side of this page).
Watch the Tutorials.
Browse courses and create a draft schedule (suggestion: watch the tutorials called "Your Degree Worksheet", "Creating a Good Schedule and Managing Your Time" and "Registering for Courses Using My Maine Guide").
Bring a list of questions and know we are ready to answer them!
