Here at Southern Maine Community College, providing a safe environment in which to live, learn and work is our main objective.  Truly safe campuses can only be achieved through the full cooperation of all students, faculty, and staff. Those of us in Safety and Security hope you will take the time to read this information as part of your responsibility in creating a safe environment for yourself and others on our South Portland and Midcoast campuses.

The Department of Campus Safety and Security works closely with the Student Life staff as well as local emergency responders to implement programs and training aimed at increasing student awareness and safety while decreasing criminal incidents. Security officers perform routine patrols of all residence halls, classrooms, and office areas on both campuses. We hope all students, faculty and staff feel safe and comfortable here.

We believe community input and feedback is an integral part of any effective policy and encourage anyone to write, visit and talk to our staff. In addition, anyone can address their concerns directly to me, the Public Safety Director.
